I came across an older set of these pachmayr compac grips. They are older style, two piece ones. Which are thinner and lighter than the older style ones that are connected in the back.

They fit my hands perfectly and control recoil well. They do not hinder pocket carry either. Just thought I'd share as these grips really help to control the recoil of the 360PD. Anyone else here use these pachmayr grips on their J frame,if so how do like them? IMG_20170330_230317.jpg

I agree, those are very nice and comfortable grips. For me they were slightly too big for pocket carry but good grips none the less.

I like that style of Pachmayr a lot. But most of my J-frames are more or less target guns, so I use mainly the old S&W factory target grips. There is a picture of them a few posts down in this thread: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1980-present/458314-model-63-grip-replacement.html

They were made smooth as well as checkered, but the smooth ones are scarcer. Ebay is a good place to look for old grips, although it can be hard to guess how people are going to describe them.

I had those grips on several of my revolvers (Charter Arms Undercover, S&W Model 36, Colt Agent), and while they were great for range use I found them to be just a little too big for concealed carry. Currently I use a Tyler T-Grip adapter with factory wood grips on my S&W Model 649 and the factory rubber boot grips on my Model 638.

Bannockburn I like the Tyler set up.even tried it on my 360PD. I'm not recoil sensitive, nbut I found the gun wanting to twist in my hand upon firing it with +p 38's.

I could control the gun and even got good follow ups even with the magnums. However it hurt the exposed backstrap really beat my hand up good.

The pachmayrs make a lot of difference. I moved the t grip to my 640-1 357 on that gun not anywhere as bad. I don't carry it much since gwtting my 360PD as I pocket carry 95% of the time and this gun is much better for that. Thanks for the input guys.

I did take one of my Pachmayr J frame grips and essentially cut the bottom off it in an attempt to reduce it's size somewhat. This was long before the boot grip style was introduced. Have a picture of it but don't have access to my photos at this time.

I ordered a couple of these for a couple of my J frames, Pachmayr does a great job on replacement grips, one can't go wrong..

My cut-down Pachmayr J frame grips:

I also liked this pair of Rogers Combat grips, also for a J frame. Very comfortable to use though a bit long for concealed carry.

IMG_0298.JPG For concealed carry, I like boot style grips. Although the rubber grips feel good in hand, IMO they produce too much friction against clothing and are uncomfortable when carried next to the skin. I have switched my J-frame to Altamont wooden boot grips and am pleased with the result.
