J-frame Grips that cover backstrap?

I know that the Pachmayr Compacs cover the back strap of the J-frame and still keep the size on the smaller side.

Thought I'd ask the rest of you J-framers who are more knowledgable than I what other J-frame grips cover the backstrap, but still provide a grip that is not huge.

Bump because I'm looking for something similar.

I want a grip that covers the backstrap (lengthening the distances between the back of the grip and the trigger), yet does not cover the bottom of the grip.

I think the Pachmayr compac may be the only one, outside of something custom. Its the only one I have found.

Does it extend beyond the bottom of the grip frame? It does on my j-square. I don't need extra length, just more meat to increase the distance between my palm and the trigger.

Don't know if he still has them for sale. They are excellent grips for J frames. They cover the back strap but not the front. Usually I need a filler behind the trigger guard but not with these grips. They extend slightly below the grip frame but so not much to hinder concealment.

Yes it does. If you do a search you can probably find some pics of them on a J-frame. As a matter of fact, I know if you do a search under "640" in title only there is longer thread where DHart has some pics of his with them on.

It doesn't hang off very much at all though, there is barely enough room to put your pinky on it. If you find some pics and it looks like you might like them, it might be worth the approx $25 new to have them shipped to you. Or you could always try ebay or gunbroker to find as set of cheaper used grips.

I thought the Uncle Mike's boot grip or bantam grip achieved this as well.

I have the UM boot grip now. The backstrap is open, I want that same grip, but with about a 1/4" worth of material over the backstrap for a better fit in my hand. Otherwise, that grip is perfect.

And that depends on how you define "the smaller side." The Compac is bulky enough to make the gun less concealable, especially if you use a pocket carry method.

Moreover, I can't fit an HKS speedloader into the S&W J-frame's cylinder when the gun is wearing the Pachmayr Compac. The grip protrudes too much to the side; the speedloader lacks "clearance."

Very comfy grip, but on a CCW gun, the speedloader problem is a deal-breaker. I would stick with an open-backstrap grip like the issue boot grip.

I do like the Compac grip on the Ruger SP101. No speedloader clearance issues there.

These are expensive, but they solve the night sight problem also. The "LG305" (the second "J" frame stocks at $218.95 listed on the ref website) are rubber and have the covered backstrap. The "LG205s" are plastic and don't have a covered backstrap.

The LG305s are rubber, and as such are slightly tacky -- don't work well in a "tight" pocket. They are also slightly larger than the some of the other covered backstrap "bootgrips".

I have not purchased anything from the referenced website -- it just came up close too the top when I "googled" crimson trace laser grips. I bought mine from either Midway or Natchez. I've had them for about 3 years and the original battery still works fine.
