found the load for two of my hunting 44-40,s

after trying several powders and bullets for a good hunting load in the 44-40,s, I found what my CD baby sharps and Winchester model 53 likes. 200 gr JFP at 1600 fps using 2400 powder(safe in the two rifles) top target shot at 50 yards with the sharps with peep sight and the bottom target with the win 53 using the open sights. on the way home I saw a ground hog in a fence row on my friends farm and put a stalk on it and got a off hand shot at 50-60 yards, dead hog.

Sounds similar to the old H. V. load, that one was rated 1570 fps.
