I have a line on an FR-8 that may be coming up for sale soon. However, the rear sight "free-wheels" as if there is no detent ball or spring in the rear sight. It will not stay in place for two shots in a row. Does anyone know how to fix it? Also, where might I get a tool to adjust the front sight? One of these would be awesome for a field gun.

Thanks.

I am reviving this thread because, while I did not get to purchase the rifle, I am going to try to fix it for a friend that has it. The rear sight does not have the detent ball, spring, or screw that holds it in place. If someone can point me to the original parts for sale somewhere, great. If not, I have the following questions:

What is the size of the detent ball, I am sure that I can find a bearing or steely ball that will be close enough to work.

Also, do you think that the flint spring from a zippo might fit the spring requirement?

What is the thread pitch on the little screw so that I can find a screw to fit the rear sight?

None of this has to be original, it just needs to work.

Thanks in advance!
