Stopped by the gun store, found a Franchi in the used rack. Blueing all worn off of it, and a cracked but usable stock.

I immediately thought this looked like a copy of Brownings A5 design (humpback semi-auto shotgun).

$200.

Anyone have any experience with this shotgun? Fair price? Looks like new stocks are $100 on line.

Franchi 48

Yes, I have one, inherited from my wife's dad. 12 ga, with factory narrow swivels. He brought it back while in service. Light weight so it does kick a bit, It is a recoil system like the A-5. I have a plug in mine and use it for doves. Also set the rings for HV shells like the A-5, and it makes a doable turkey gun for walking the hills.

+1
$200 + sales tax + $100 for a new stock = $300+.

And you still won't know if it is going to work or not until after you buy it & try it.

You can buy some pretty decent NEW & excellent condition used shotguns for $300+ anymore.

I got all my Franchi 48ALs for about $300 each, shipped. Or less.

Just FYI.

They are GREAT shotguns.

Where are you finding new stocks, BTW? Is it a 12 gauge or 20?
