I have a 48 AL 20 gauge that I really like. Came across a 612 at the local shop yesterday. Do not know nothing about them. Seems like I remember a few years back about Franchi having some trouble with a particular model, was it this one?

Not that I'm aware of. I own a 912 (612 on steroids, 3 1/2"), and a 712 (deluxe version of 612). I've had nothing but stellar performance out of each. And the 912 has been used (read abused) heavily. Marshes and swamps are rough on shotguns.

Wife has one

My wife has a 612 and uses it to shoot skeet and sporting clays. She has hundreds if not a couple of thousand rounds through hers and not one issue, she loves it.

They are very good guns and will eat anything you feed them. If you like the price, I recommend buying it.

Action bars might be a weak point, I have read on the 'net & everything you read on the 'net MUST be true:rolleyes:
I could see how the action might get a little to much stress IF the gas piston is in the wrong position. How come they didn't put "forward for light loads" instead of the confusing arrow stamp?
I have a 912,612,620 & a 500 franchi - the only reason I bought them was because I was just snooping around and found the recoil spring on the Beretta Extrema has the EXACT same design......hmmmm...beretta family sharing designs? I think so.
Well, the 500 is an nice copy of a Remington 1100; but made in Italy.
I have found the Factory provides NO support for these "discontinued" models.
That is a little item which is a deal maker/breaker depending on the price.
I have only put a few boxes of shells thru the 620 on dove - I like the shotgun alot.
Not enough use to make a factual statement about reliability on my part.
I would buy one for my sons if they already didn't have nice bird guns.
