Frank James (frontier holster pattern) and friends

I always wanted to do the flat topped Frank James version of the Slim Jim. Here it is, along with four more to ship this week. Two for 1860's and two for rimfire single actions. Last one is for a 3" 1858 but my only mule is an 8", so it's pictured without.

It's about the holster pattern attributed to outlaw Frank James, brother of Jesse James. Basically a Slim Jim with a squared off throat.

I was told by my great grandmother that I was a very distant relation to the James brothers. My name is Jim James from Bollinger county Missouri but I have my doubts about any true connections. It’s still fun to think about.

Nice work. Do any of those have toe plugs? I hate sewing in toe plugs.

The last holster I made was for a friends Colt New Frontier. This toe plug turned out acceptable.

No, the black rig is a Will Ghormley “Fair Weather Christian” rig. I’ve thought about doing one similar.

Those don’t have plugs. I’ve done several but hate doing them.

I really like Will Ghormley's patterns. I've done a couple of slim jims, cheyenne, Johnny Ringo, and a few others. I think my next leather project is going to be the Hand of God rig for my 1911.
