I've been looking at a bunch of gun ranges and their fees are alot higher than I'd like to shell out. I also plan on buying Russian surplus 5.45x39mm 7n6 compliant ammo and I can't take that to any range. So I'm looking for an outdoor range or a big open field near Philadelphia or Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos to go shooting at.

Head over to the Diamond Street Projects off Broad Street behind Temple University. There's free shooting anytime after 9 p.m., especially on the 1st & 15th of the month. I guarantee the police will not show up.

If Diamond street is too busy, head over to 52nd & Parkside.

Goggle either Delaware County Field and Stream Association outsde of Media or Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club in Audubon, Montgomery County. Both clubs are private, but accept new members. PM me if you need more information. :)

There are plenty of fee-based ranges, but if you want free, the game comission operates a few on game lands within driving distance of Philly.

I use the SGL range on route 100, not too bad but get there early before it gets too crowded.

for pistol I use philadelphia archery and gun in south philly. I believe springfield day is coming up when memberships drop to about $79 for the year. Very nice folks, they also don't mind me shooting my aks or sks there although there's not enough distance to check anything but function. Their number is 215-551-4544
