Howdy,
OK, given the current situation, I'm going to post this here and see how it goes. I have a brick of Winchester Small Pistol Magnum primers I got in an order from Midway. I could use them, but I know some people are really strapped for primers and I am not. The general consensus is that its fine to use magnum primers in place of standard primers, but if loading at or near max, one should reduce the charge by 5-10%. However, YMMV, make sure you know what you are doing and don't blame me if it doesn't work out, I'm trying to do people a favor here.
So, here is the deal. I've got 1000 primers. I'll give 200 of them to the first 5 people to respond to me via PM on THR who meet the following requirements:
1- You must be willing to pick them up in Roxboro, North Carolina. I don't care where you come from, but I'm not shipping or delivering them.
2- You must be a THR member with a join date at least one month old or have at least 100 posts.
3- You must be a handloader and plan to use the primers yourself. I want to know in the PM what you are going to load. I don't need the specifics, just what the plan is for the primers.
4- You must be either completely out, nearly out, or new to loading and not have ever had any SP primers. If you have 10,000 large pistol/large rifle/small rifle, but no small pistol and you have a need for small pistol, you qualify. However, if you have that many, you might consider doing the same thing with the size you have a ton of to help out other members.
Obviously I'm going to have to take peoples word on some of this stuff. I've always found THR to be a very civil and friendly forum, so that is what I plan to do. This is the only site I am posting this on. Once all the primers are spoken for, I'll post that information here.
I am hoping that other handloaders in other parts of the country follow suit on this. We are, after all, all friends here.
