I have a model 83 and my BC gap will just barely accept a .0015" feeler gauge. Regardless of gap, you can't beat a Freedom Arms gun.

cottonmouth,

I have a 6" Freedom Arms .475. Very nice combination of power, packability and shootability. The 4 3/4" should be even handier and you shouldn't give up much in the way of balistics. I mostly shoot 400gr at 1,100 fps. There is a noticible increase in recoil with 420s at 1,300fps. Just make sure you don't fall asleep with the heavy loads or your forehead will pay the price.

FWIW,

Paul

I saw a chart over barrel gap vs bullet velocity made by a guy who owned a Dan Wesson. Those revolvers have an adjustable barrel gap, from screwing in the barrel deeper into the frame. 0.001 up to 0.009 the velocity was stable. It began go down slightly at 0.010 and more at 0.011 and there he stopped testing. It was through a 4" barrel. .357 magnum, I think.
