Was at the range yesterday. They put a 'homeboy wantabee' on the lane next to me. He had run the silhouette target out 15 feet, and was shooting both slow, and rapid fire. After about 30 minutes I looked at his target and there were 50-60 holes in it, BUT ONLY TWO HIT THE SILHOUETTE. I looked around the side to see what he was shooting, and why he couldn't hit the damn thing. He was shooting a Glock 19 AND USING THE SIDE OF THE SLIDE FOR A SIGHT.
At this point it dawned on me. If ever confronted by one of these, JUST FREEZE. It will take him at least 3 reloads just to hit a torso. If you move around you may get hit with a stray:banghead:

Sounds like he needed these!

Sighting down the side of the slide must be a "plastic gun thing"....don't recall seeing this done with other firearms.

Next time you see someone try this, suggest using a revolver...at least they can use the cylinder flutes as a sighting aid.

Want another example of homeboy shooting skills? After watching some of these guys shoot, i no longer wonder why this one particular range i've used has ended up with more holes in the ceiling :what: than anywhere else.

Shoulda got him some of these

Was he shooting like this?

Edit: Punkermonkey beat me to it. Yes, it DID take me 7 minutes to find the first pic

Homies on the Range

I was at the range not long ago when a punk shows up with a pg shottie.
I guess he had just "acquired" it because he barely knew how to handle it.

While I'm all in favor of encouraging new shooters, and I firmly believe safety is everyone's business, there was something about this punk that told me the world would be a better place if he was not allowed to handle firearms.

He comes on the 30 yard pistol range where I'm packing up. He loads up his 8 rounds, racks the slide, and tries to pull the trigger while holding the gun up at eye level like you see some people shoot folding stock AKs on TV.

I stopped him and told him that he would probably break his nose when the gun went off, and to check to see if the safety was engaged. At that point I left the firing line. On the way out, I told the range master to keep an eye on him. Just as I was finishing that conversation, the punk, who is still having trouble, turns and sweeps the firing line with with the muzzle while his finger is in the trigger guard. The range officer about jumped out of his skin and ran over to get control of the situation.

Fortunately we don't get many gangers out at that range.

Ya know I have only found two advantages to shooting like this.

1: Being left handed this tosses all of my brass at my feet so I dont have to chase it.

2: I guess SWAT guys do this when using a shield.

I tried this with my CZ-52 and you know what, it hurt! Torqued my wrist just right that it hurt to shoot like that.

Still cant understand how he missed the target at 15 feet tho.

At fifteen feet I could just use the Fairbairn technique and hit it at least half of the time.

See ya

New shooters should be encouraged to get some instruction in one form or another.

Carlos Mencea did a Gang banger shooting class skit on his show recently. Pretty funny.

HAHAHA i tried shooting like that while my father was teaching me he told me i wouldent hit anything and gess what? i dident  it was funny trieng it though mabye if i get some of those sights then.............

I do not understand the problem?

Who care if he can't hit anything? In fact, I feel it is a good thing.

As you can tell I am not into helping badguys.

Once.. I was fooling around at the range and decided to shoot like that, but I was AIMING.... And i had no issues hitting the targets. :neener: Maybe I'm special? :p

Forgot to mention that I was using a p22 with a red dot - my fun gun.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a similar story.

Long story short: some punk with a PG shotgun peppers a target that another (un-related) person just put up. WITH BIRDSHOT! The guy who put the target up got really upset. I would have too. PG boy's friends swept the firing line a couple times until I had enough and explained to them what they were doing wrong in a stong tone. Really just a laughable day all around. Sometimes when you cheat death all you can do is laugh.

I believe when using this "technique," it's helpful to thrust the pistol forward with each trigger pull.

Lew,, your forgot to mention holding the pistol above your head helps too.

=)

Pushing forward, held above head, but you forgot grabbing your crotch with support hand.:) while engaged in "gangsta grip" shooting.

Wonder where I could buy a set of sights like that. I WANT SOME!!:what: Except, mine would need a prism arangement like those used in field glasses so that I can hold the gun up way above my head shoot it stuck-up high in the air. I've aways enjoyed watching the TV seeing them shoot at and hit the target all stretched out like that running at the same time. Can anyone here tell me where I could find such a system. Oh they need to fit my 2" revo.....:neener:

I used to shoot my pencil-barrel Model 10 upside down in DA using my pinky finger. Strictly for showing off, it really made me appreciate the S&W DA action. I would use a 12:00 hold with the sights over the target, and do OK at short ranges. That pinky gets tired quickly!

It didn't look gangsta or thug or Hollywood, just kinda dorky, made my buddies laugh.
