ok, all you CCW guys, this is just a freindly reminder to take your gun apart and clean it. i was out in the woods yesterday, i hadnt shot my pocket pistol in quite some time, so i decided to run a coule of rounds through it. i am glad i did, because IT DID NOT WORK! :what::what::what:the first shot went off no problem, and it immidiatly jammed. i cleared it and it did it again. i took it apart this morning and it had accumulated enough pocket lint/dust/sand/etc. that it just wasnt going to function anymore. it is entirely my fault, i had not done anything with it in several months. so i am going to have to start a cleaning regiment. i am thinking every couple of weeks or so. does this sound often enough?

I always put at least one mag thru any weapon after I clean it before I return it to carry duty.

It would suck to have it fail to operate when needed because I put it together wonky.

Sounds like what happened when I was a PM9 owner, except I was religious about cleaning it once every 10 days or so when I was carrying it, and giving TLC after every range session. It didn't need neglect and pocket lint to fail, it did that on its own.

Good reminder.

Not just the gun but all magazines and ammo, too. Cleaning out your pockets is a good idea as well.

I have had only one failure with my Kimber: while function testing 230 grain Hydro-Shoks one jammed at the chamber mouth with a bit of paper in the hollowpoint. The offending round was the first of a fresh magazine that came out of my pocket with some of the detritus left by washing my pants without clearing the pockets of paper. I was appalled by how much stuff made its way into my magazines in a fairly short time.
