Osama hunter gets sent to prison
March 7, 2004
In Montpellier a car driver tried to run over Osama Bin Laden. Instead of international praise he will be jailed.
A Montpellier craftsman's attempt to combat terrorism ended pathetically. While driving through the town he saw a man whom he thought to be Osama Bin Laden. He drove towards the pedestrian, chased him through the inner city and tried to run him over.
The victim, however, was not the wanted terrorist leader. The driver was sentenced to spend three months on probation and pay 500,- € compensation to his victim, the authorities reported. Additionally, he will have to take a therapy.
His lawyer David Mendel stated that his client had trouble with his business, had been very tired and also lately been "traumatized by the events in Spain." At least his economical worries would have been taken care of if he had hit the real Osama, on whose head is a 5,000,000 reward.
The suspected "terrorist" survived the incident uninjured.
