what other similar options does he have to this rifle? Does anyone have any experience or opinions of this rile?

All help will be appreciated

I'm not sure I would call it a real rifle as it's pistol caliber, but I have one and it's a great gun. Very fun to shoot, reliable and accurate for short range. I'm sure it's good out to 100 yds, but I don't think I've ever shot mine past 50 as my eyes aren't that great anymore and I have zero magnification on my Storms optics.

It's a real rifle as are rimfire rifles. They fit the role for people who want a rifle but don't need rifle cartridge power. I have no use for them myself but I can see how they would be beneficial for people who aren't into rifles as much as pistols.

Most pistol-carbines are designed as companions to specific pistols. In the case to the Cx4, it's the 92, 96, px4, or 8000 series. I would recommend it for your friend if he's a fan of Beretta pistols and has one of them and get it set up for the corresponding magazines.

what do we call it? a sub-riflegun?
because it can't be a sub machine gun, the mp40s, and mp5s, and thompsons and all those kids would be jealous.
I like pistol-carbine even though that term probably isn't accurate either.

They’re fun, reliable, less expensive to shoot, and unlike most non- pistol caliber rifles, they’re allowed on indoor ranges. :)

Wow. These things eject to the left! Must be just in front of your nose! Ever get burning smutz on your nose? or in your eyes?

Just IMHO, yes.

16" barrel, shoulder stock.

Let me kinda turn the question around. Would you not consider an AR15 carbine a rifle?

Has your friend thought about a sub-2000 or a hi-point 995? I only own the 995 and I think it's a great rifle if it's going to be his first. It's very inexpensive and fun to shoot :) And I hear great things about the sub-2k's and hope to get one in the not too distant future :)

EDIT: And after looking at the prices for the Storm, your friend could get a Hi-Point AND a sub-2000 for the price of one Storm, and have some left over for ammo and more magazines :)

Before I got my AR, I was thinking about a pistol caliber carbine. I rented a CX4 and a Kel Tech Sub-2000. The Kel Tech is a better value IMHO and can use a bigger variety of mags. But I'm a lefty and I love my Beretta 96fs so I would get a CX4

Hmm.. Cool shroud, however when ordering, the page to enter Visa info on isn't secure. I've NEVER experienced that lack of security when ordering.

I'm not sure I want to order something that way. Maybe I'll call in an order.
