Also available at Walmart: lithium complex EP grease, and (from the drug aisle) castor oil. Just depends whether you want to use grease or oil. I don't have an AR, but I use grease on my Mini-14.

It spilled out onto a dirty floor, and I didn't want to be using dirty frog lube in my gun. There wasn't much left, but enough that I hadn't replenished my supply yet.

I kindly thought that's why you tossed it, but didn;t mention it in my post. I was thinking it probably had a bunch of grit or whatever in it by that time, but also that maybe you could have skimmed some off the top. Maybe it wasn;t feasible....just thinking is all. Anyway, try the 8oz tub on the next batch maybe.

Why aren't your guns already lubed?

I had gone through and given them a good cleaning after the last range trip and was in the process of re-lubing all 3 of my competition guns when the tube of Frog Lube broke.

And my new competition upper is supposed to arrive today so I will need something to lubricate it with so I can put it through its paces before the competition on Saturday.

Yeah, there just wasn't enough of it left for me to really worry about trying to scrape the top off. I really do like the Frog Lube, though, and will probably buy a bigger supply in one of their tubs (expecting it not to break as easily ;))
