I pretty often read here (and on other boards) that people complain frequently about the sights on their sidearms. Mostly they are told to replace the sights with better ones if possible or "paint" the front sight.

As many here have figured out I'm a cheap b.....rd so I decided to paint mine with a inexpensive "day-glo" (kinda sorta) fingernail polish.

It's not perfect but in most lighting situations it really does stand out.

It does make a big difference in quickly picking up the front sight. And a lot of times, all you need to do is put that orange spot on the target and shoot, and youll still get good hits.

Most all my handguns these days have either three dot night sight, and/or flo orange nail polish on the front sight. Ive really come to like the Amerigo night sights with the orange ring on the front sight. Best of both worlds. :)

For a strictly "target" type gun though, I still prefer sharp black Patridge type "target" sights. Usually gives a cleaner sight picture without distractions.

While nail polish is less expensive I like the Birchwood Casey sight paint.
The set comes with white, and florescent orange and green.
You first apply the white and the one of the colored of your choice.
The paint lasts a very long time and is highly visible.
