I have a Savage 29A rifle which shoots to the right. I can't budge the front or rear sight in its dovetail with a brass punch and hammer. I've tried treating them with Kroil and still no joy. Any suggestions as to the next step to get this rifle to shoot where I point it?

If Kroil and a punch didn't work the sights were probably tinned with soft solder, regulated, and then the solder was heated to fuse the sights in place.
Gunsmiths also use this technique as a quick fix for dovetails that were worn out or filed too much to hold the sights in place.
Try playing a torch over the sights and see if you can get them to move.
You may have to bring the heat up until the barrel and sights come to near dull red if the sights were silver soldered in place.HTH

Thanks, I'll give that a try after Christmas. All the empty boxes for the Christmas decorations are filling up my shop and I can't more in there until they go back up in the attic.
