I have purchased a full auto conversion bolt UZI Machine gun. The gun is an Action Arms with a Bluegrass machine conversion bolt. The problem is that it miss fires from time to time. The bolt goes forward and the round does not go off. You can try the same round many times and it will not go off. The primer will not be dented very much on a round that fails to fire, but will be dented good on a round that fires. I have tried several types on ammo and had this failure with all. On the reciver of the gun there is a small band that is welded to the reciver and goes around the barrle. (just forward of the bolt) . This band is welded on but the welds have broke. I think the welds are just to hold the band in place ( but I am not sure) and the way they broke it is not going to fall off. Could this have something to do with my problem? Should I weld the band back in place?

Thanks

If that "weld" holds the bbl in place and your bbl is squirming around, little wonder you're having misfires.

Hi sounds like a possible problem with headspace due to improper barrel fit or broken reciver. Have it looked at by a Class 2 manufactuer or gunsmith.

Do you have a reliable 9mm pistol you could try the dud rounds in just to make sure it is not the ammo. Note though that any unfired primer tends to look like it has a shallow dent because when it fires, it flows back around the firing pin so the dent looks deeper.

Can you describe that conversion a bit more? Is it a full conversion to fire from an open bolt with the firing pin fixed in the bolt face? Or does it use the separate firing pin? Does it fire from a closed bolt?

I have no idea what the band you describe is for. The barrel should be held in place with the barrel nut in the normal manner.

The conversion fires from the open bolt. As best I can tell it is just a full auto bolt witth the slot cut out to fit in a semi reciever and the select fire fire control group added. The band does not really fit all that tight to the barrel and yes the muzzle nut is what hols the barrel in place so I do not see much purpose in the band. I feel that I may have a headspace problem, but the round that go off are dented really good. I might try to fie the rounds in my pocket nine but I don't think it is going to be an ammo problem with this many failures of differtn bronds of ammo. I plan on ordering a spare parts kit to try a differnt barrel as this one might be worn out and borderline on the headspace? I also might try another bolt spring just to make sure although I feel if that was the problem I could try the round again and it should fire.

Thanks for all the help
