I know that with proper licsensing Full-Autos are legal, but besides the high price just how much of a hassle is it for the average citizen to get one?

Its really not a big deal. Once you find a class III dealer who can sell to you and a weapon you can afford you get the forms,(the class III dealer can usually get/give them to you). You fill out the form completely, get a signature from your local police chief or sheriff, send it in to the BATF with the $200 fee and wait.

The hardest part is finding a weapon that is legal to transfer that you can afford. Of course you have to reside in a state that hasn't banned full auto.

Got mine very easily. Fill out the form, CLEO signoff (for individual transfers) fingerprint cards (for individual transfers), passport photos (individual transfers), and mail it with a $200 check and 27 days later my approved Form 4 came back and I picked it up. Biggest hangup is the $$ for the item.

Since the move to W. Va the processing times have dramatically decreased - they actually seem to be efficient and responsive as compared to when they were in D.C.

Does this process take just as long for each firearm you buy, or do the 2nd and 3rd go much faster? (assuming you can afford a 2nd or 3rd lol)

It would be prudent to call the local lawman and ask him if he'll "allow" you to own one. My local a...hole will not sign off as required by the BATFE, even though I am within my rights to purchase and own.

If your CLEO won't sign, form a living trust or an LLC. No need for a CLEO signature (or fingerprints or photos) with a living trust or LLC.

True, but most people give up after being told 'no' by their police chief and / or sheriff.

My sheriff signs NFA paperwork, but it's very tempting to use a trust and skip the photos, trip to the sheriff's office, and fingerprinting.

Yep. Last two transfers were both less than 30 days. The one before the W.V. move took 9 months - These were corp. transfers.

Start an LLC for the purpose of owning NFA, no pictures needed , no prints and best of all NO CLEO SIGNOFF.

I did three at one time (two cans and one SMG) - all were mailed and approved within the same time frame. Transfers after your first one won't go any faster or slower (other than normal time variation) since it goes through the same process of approvals each time.
