Fun target shooting game

Chief of Naval Operations--B+, but I have a trackball, so it's a little different.

Lietenant--D+ using the touchpad...think I'd better stick to the trackball next time.
 
the first two times I got low scores, Ds but I was doing 'rifleman stlye' where every single hit was directly dead center, no outer rings, no misses

I then went to a more fast and loose system where I was just shooting at the whole thing, I had 2 misses, but got a B.

I guess I am not a spray and pray type of guy, but not reallys uprised that simple games like this, or even more complicated first-person-shooters really tend to support spray and pray styles. Heck I hear that in Call of Duty 2 multiple person games, many supposedly great players prefer the M-1 carbine, because it gives an 'instant kill' if you use the stock to whack someone at arms reach. To me taht is just silly for a modern wargame to be balanced in such a way that jumping on some guy and whacking him with your stock is an effective, 100% instant kill technique, but you need to unload half a magazine from your thompson into the oppoent's chest to get him down, and anyone who uses a rifle is just plain silly.
 
The only (good) video game I've played that rewards patience and marksmanship over running sideways and spraying is Rainbow Six: Vegas. It's not realistic, but I find it quite a bit more fun than other FPS games.

I also played one game that was all about sniping (you were a Soviet in Berlin, I think), but I was absolutely dreadful at it (or the game was designed badly). I know the concept is all about staying low and moving slow, but you've got make some concessions to keeping interest high.
 
I have that russian sniper game too, it looked good, but its pretty slow to play. Its probably the most realistic ive seen, but id like a game where you have to range, and dial in elevation/windage etc.

It took a bit, but it did come up for me. Next time I won't leave my targets at home and I will shoot the right distance.:banghead:

At least, that's the plan.:)

Seriously, take your time from 200 yards away and get them with the rifle. Run around in this game spraying ammo and youll be dead before you empty a magazine, which takes about 2 seconds. Seems very realsitic and I would love it were it not for the idiots that make up your team. They love the spray-pray-die thing.
