I'm not sure that a joke about bullet's needing to cost $5000 funny when that's exactly one of the proposed means (tax them to the point of making it impractical to shoot) of disarming you and me. Perhaps this is where the antis got the idea.
 
As we all know, people never found a way to hurt each other until the invention of the gun:rolleyes: . It must have been one helluva eutopia before gun powder was invented:uhoh: ... lol

It's funny that the antis think that a $5,000 bullet is going to reduce crime or even gun crime.

A huge tax on ammo just makes it more valuable as an item to steal, smuggle, kill for or even make in clandestine factories that would be located next to the meth labs.
 
Have the anti's not learned anything from history? Prohibition did not work for alchohol. I doubt it would work out for ammunition!
 
I thought it was funny (as long as it remains a comedy sketch and doesn't become public policy).

It was indeed the late Senator Moynihan who proposed a 10,000% tax on ammunition. Moynihan was a very smart man, so my guess is that he was trying to make a point by going to the extreme.

Exactly right. What makes them criminals is that they tend to disregard laws.
