So I took 3 guns to the range yesterday, been too long between trips. Grabbed my 1911 in 45, my Glock 19 and my EDC Kahr PM9. I was shooting at between 25 feet to 25 yards, a little rusty, but not terrible until I started firing my Glock, "which I had a TLR-4 on, and haven't used since I put it on a year ago. So long story short, I couldn't hit with the 19, everything going left, so I figure dam, it must be trigger control, but the other guns were gitting where thay were supposed to, even at 25 yards. So I left after about 200 rounds. I am saying if I didn't know better I would blame it on the sights. But the laser is off too, then it dawns on me I just set the laser the other might in the house, without ever testing it. I get home and take the gun out, take off the slide, and barrell, and the front sight falls off.
I never felt better about ny shooting as when that sight hit the counter. That will teach me t make sure I use the locktight properly. So I wasted a few rounds, I probably would have lost the front sight if I shot a few more rounds. Now I can't wait to get back and shoot the darn thing with sights.
I also realized how bad the gen 4 trigger is and it needs to be replaced with either a Guost or Taran, or some other brand, if you guys have had good experiences with triggers for glocks let me know which one will lighten it up and take out the bump. It's like mashed potatoes, worse than my Gen 2 or 3's. and it's a shame they can't get that trigger right after all these years. I assume I have to change the springs along with the bar, but never did a Glock before, "never had to on my gen 2 or 3, they were bad but not as bad as the 4's . You notice it a lot more after shooting a 4lb trigger on a 1911.

Spend enough time shooting and something weird is going to happen. I had a rear sight fall off once. It had been installed by a gunsmith, test fired and sighted in for 230gr hardball, the set screw tightened down good. I checked it myself. Then it shot loose on my second outing. Springs crap out and start causing malfunctions, magazines hiccup, things just mechanically break and fail. Seen it all.

Now about Glock triggers. I have shot exactly ONE Glock with a decent trigger. All the others felt like I was squeezing a bag of marshmellows. It was a custom build that cost well over a grand, not including base pistol price. I'll ask him what trigger he used. It made me kinda think again about buying a Glock. Then I regained my senses.

Good thing it was at the range instead of during a real DGU! I had a Glock 19 drop the mag on me repeatedly at one qualification, had another lose a front sight, and watched a third break the slide right under the ejection port. To be fair, all three pistols were beat HARD range guns, and the broken slide one< (commercial rental), never quit working, just shifted POI to the left an inch. I did watch a customer lose the sight to his Artillery Luger on our range, and leave very dejected, sure he would never find another. We found it and presented it to him the next day. :) Come to think of it, we saw a lot of sights fall off on that range, 1911, Star, Kimber, seemed like the thing to do for a while.

Same thing happened to my Glocks 17 and 19. Both lost the factory front sight within 200 rounds. Never had the magazine falling out problem.

I have become a huge fan of CZ handguns. Have never had a problem with anyone of them except my 75B in 40 that wouldn't extract Winchester White Box ammo. A new extractor spring from Wolf solved that.
I find I shoot them better than any other semi automatic handgun I ever owned

Funny how the grimmlins come out when they see the gun range! Happens to every shooter at one time or another.

They know you're on the clock for 20 and hour, not to mention eating anywhere between 10 cents and 5 dollars per round. It entertains them to no end.

At least it was a Glock front sight. Easy to fix. I have had several stake on 1911 front sights shoot off. Now that’s a bitch.

As far as the trigger. It’s a Glock. If you want a lighter pull and to “take out the bump” Ghost probably has what you need. I tried their 3.3 connector. There was no bump at all. I never even shot the gun but I could tell I didn’t like it from the get go. I guess I like the “bump”. Cool thing about Glocks, you can try a few connectors and get the pull you want. I seem to go with a minus connector, heavy trigger return spring, and a 25-cent trigger job. We are talking about 35 bucks here. I don’t remember.

Range grimlins...part two. I went to the range a day or two after my first post. Shot the AR to chrono a few loads. When I got home I saw the pivot pin on the front flip sight had walked a little to one side. Then as I placed the rifle into the safe...The fore arm twisted a little. Half twist to tighten it. Had this rifle going on four years...grimlins...

armoredman: "$20? I was making $7.25...."
I think grampajack was talking about a charge of $20 an hour for range use.
(I am beginning to think you knew that, were making a funny, and I fell for it.)

The local gun shop with an indoor range charged me $10 an hour but has been gremlin free (so far). Next time I'll ask what exterminator they use.
