on the way to the gun show it wasn't there. So I drove to the LGS and purchased a nickel N Frame 25-5. I have a 625-2 and I wanted a Smith in Long Colt. The original is "Model of 1988", so I didn't look up DOM. To make a short story long "N9 040xx". 6"er little help on DOM. Thanks

Model 25-5 1955 Model .45 Target Heavy Barrel in .45 Long Colt. Manufactured 1978-1988.
The 900000 serial range is listed in the Standard Catalog of S&W as started in 1982, however the N800000 range ran till 1983. serial range N910000 to N953000 was used between January 1985 & June 1985.
Based on the above I'm going to say the N900000 range probably began shipping in 1984 and your gun would be from that year.

Wow, that is a hard post to understand.
I live in Sugar Land Texas. I get notified by emails of all Gun Shows in Texas Thur. before the weekend. Both emails stated gun show in Stafford,Tx. 4miles from my house. There was no gun show. Went to a Local Gun Store, Collectors Firearms, they had something I wanted.......Capish

Ya gotta admit your first post was hard to understand.

Took me a moment. SM used to post in a similar fashion. 20,000 odd posts before he quit, after a while you get used to the style.

I had no problem with the first post at all.

Also I have been to a few events that were not there. In younger days I went to a nationally advertised SF&F convention 100 miles away ...that was not there. I have been to a gun show advertised in the local paper 40 miles away that was not there and another 140 miles away that was advertised in a magazine.

It happens. In the first two situations I had a nice talk with other folks in the parking lot of locked up meeting places......generally involving the availability of pichforks and torches and the address of the organizer...... but also just chewing the fat on beloved subjects. Come to think of it I had my first Saint Pauli Girl beer at the remains of that non existent SF&F Con so I guess their ads are right..........

Sorry I forgot to attach a photo of the beer.......

kBob:
That was definitely truth in advertising. The Con was was fiction and fantasy. The science may have been lacking though.
Our local gun show was cancelled last week even though it was advertised in the local gun mag two weeks earlier. Sometimes circumstances conspire against us.

JM Browning:
Thanks for posting a pic, that is a fine looking weapon.

Can't write Italian

That was the second time in a 5 week period that GS was advertised and not there. I did kibitz with people looking for it too.

Went to the range with the S&W yesterday, cleaned it last night Hoppes Synthetic and Flitz wow, SHINY.
