Furs with guns...

Furry? That's just WEIRD.

Step 1, campers, get an identity. Don't borrow one.

A little while back, was eating dinner in the cafeteria, and one of my cow orkers said that he didn't believe in guns. I replied that I didn't believe in fairies, and I felt that I was FAR more grounded in reality... He didn't see the humor in it.

53 years old, literally traveled all over the world and I don't have a clue what the hell a "furry" is.

Could someone please enlighten me - I'm sure I'm not the only one ignorant of furdom around here.

What's the difference between a furry and a plushie?

Also, can one be a furry and a hunter? <- gun related! :)

Close Blackburn; but you've got some details mixed up. Cigarskunk is actually a rightwing republican gunowner. He also didn't fade away from that other forum but changed his name.

He was proven to be a liar who misled people, I call that a commie.

Furry and plushies...

A "furry" is defined simply enough as an anthropomorphic animal or a person who appreciates fictional characters thereof.

A "plushie" is a common term for what toy industry professionals refer to as a "plush toy", or in the common vernacular, a stuffed animal. "Plushie" can also refer to grown individuals that share an uncommon affection for plush toys.

Also, can one be a furry and a hunter? <- gun related!

Yep. I know of three, so far.

Furry? That's just WEIRD.

Owning guns? That's just WEIRD.
Enjoying something that the majority of society doesn't? That's just WEIRD.

Of course, I fully respect your right to not like the same stuff I like (as does any proper fan of anything), and I expect getting a certain amount of @#$% from people for liking "WEIRD" things (guns, anthro art/stories, etc.), but still, was throwing pejorative adjectives out there really necessary?

Step 1, campers, get an identity. Don't borrow one.

Buh?

Though I've seen a couple short definitions so far, I thought I'd respond to this, too.

List of terms:
Furry/Fur/Furson/etc. - Someone who likes the idea of anthropomorphic animals (see anthropomorphism below), generally. The term's connotation can also encompass (but technically does not include) fursuiters, plushophiles, zoophiles, etc.

Anthropomorphism - Generally speaking, any giving of human qualities to something that doesn't have them. In this context, it specifically means giving animals human features (speech, general body layout, bipedal motion, [sometimes] plantigrade feet). If it helps, imagine something along the lines of an anime catgirl, only more cat.

Man, that's a bad analogy.

Some examples of "furry" art.

The main characters, Aeris and Leo, are anthropomorphic cats.

Chalosan's artwork. A request to a friend for some mostly-clean furry-artists gave me this:

Don't go there if you don't want to see what's there. Additionally, the VCL archives do have a lot of explicit art, so your web-blocker at work probably blocks it)

Slam_Fire, good point on the usage of the word "weird".

We all stand together because of similar interests, let's not fall apart.

Thanks for the explanation Slam Fire and the links.

I had no idea that furdom had it's very own genre and that there were folks who collected furry art, fiction and movies. :D

I guess some folk branch out into all the world's variety more than others. And that is a good thing. :)

Oh my. On the internet anyone can find a peer...

I'm perfectly willing to accept that I'm weird for being a gun-owner, and probably for a hundred other reasons. Honestly being sexually attracted to cartoon animals is definatly in a different category, but heck you arent hurting anyone, so go for it. I won't tell you how to live, but i reserve the right to tell you what I think about it, and thats mutual.

Some amendment thingie in that old scrap of paper... right? "Bill Of Rights, Article the First" or something. :neener:

However, most furries aren't sexually attracted to cartoon animals - they collect art, toys, etc. Not much different in my mind than collecting coins or whatnot.

I still think it's nice to find a few that are also interested in firearms, though!

What caliber for Bugs Bunny? :uhoh: :neener:

One of the artists at Backbreaker Studios draws people-type animals (or animal-type people, depending on your point of view), and given the details of the Martini-Henry, HK PSG-1, M60 and other guns in the drawings, I'd say he/she is probably a gunny, too.

One of my shooting buddies in MN used to be a TFL member who was a furry fan. He also became a she at some point, retaining the love of AK47 and other loud toys. Some (socially conservative) people on TFL were clamouring to date "her" after I posted post-op photos. So mind the "weird" comment -- you never know who's on THR with you!

Furries with guns... Now there's gotta be a movie there.

Personally, I haven't gotten over the terror of that well-known scene from "The Shining." Furries go on my personal list of creepy evil things, along with clowns and American ninjas.

You know, every time I turn around, I find yet one more thing that stretches the envelope required for me to feel like a libertarian. Here I am, thinking my nominal acceptance of homosexuality and that I consider the Pink Pistols an awsome concept is taking my libertarian cred to new hights, and BAM!

Here come the "Furries"... :scrutiny:

But I don't judge. Whatever floats your boat. It's a free country.:D

I was peripheraly aware of the concept of "Furry" before this thread, but I must admit that my main impression was that one episode of CSI... I'm sure all interested parties know which one.

The one thing I think is that the Furries ought to at least be honest with themselves. Every link of "Legit" or "Clean" furry fan art the proponents have tried to provide was just one or two page links away from erotica, and even the majority of the "Clean" images were extremely strong on the "cheescake factor". IMO, fans may not see it that way, but I don't think those characters need to be naked before people start thinking, "what's up here?".

(BTW, because of the fur, are they really "naked"? Nevermind, I'm getting off track here....)

I have to be honest, I'm laughing, but I'm not condemning, is that good enough?
