Does anyone know if more of the Bulgarian 5.45 will come to market? Plenty of the '70's vintage Russian is available right now, but I like the later vintage Bulgarian.

With all the AR 5.45 choices these days, that is an very good question.

It is possible that we will see some sore of ban on ammo importation, but if, when, and how strict and questions yet to be answered.

Yep, and surplus supplies will eventually run out. That being said there are enough of those rifles floating around that if all the wolf/surplus got cut off I would bet that one of the big manufacturers would churn some out. (obviously at a higher cost)

I'm really fond of 5.45x39, but the possibility of imports being cut stops me from buying a gun chambered in the caliber. Plus, I don't have the money to buy a gun + stock up on the ammo now.

I'm pretty confident that IF wolf gets cut off then Winchester or Federal/AE will pick it up.

And with that, you will have, I HOPE, component availability...

yeah, for 3x the price. Look at 7.62x39. Does there appear to be sufficient supply if wolf gets cutoff? (NO). The situation will be worse for 5.45x39.

That said, folks have been talking about this very topic for years. Two years ago, folks were saying "I'm glad I went with 7.62x39 over 5.45 blah blah blah" with the anticipation that 5.45 would dry up. It didn't, and those folks have been relatively unaffected by this ammo crunch. Someday it will. If I had 5.45x39, I would be working my way towards stashing back *at least* several thousand. There are still places that you can get them for $0.16 each (about $160 per thousand), and that might turn out to be dirt cheap if supplies ever dry up. Even if you could reload, you would never be able to reload that cheaply.

There would a be a huge demand for cheap ammo in those calibers. Someone here would make it, but it won't be as cheap. It'll probably be priced alot like PMC stuff, with probably the same quality.
