Don't know how many of you have heard of this guy, he is a Wall Street market timer who uses astrology. Called the 1987 crash, pegged the invasion of Kuwait (Gulf War I) and predicted a "war" was going to start on 9/9/01.

He does a market newsletter for $3,500 per year. Maybe unconventional, but apparently quite accurate. Anyway here is what he said recently:

"Our sensibilities are tweaked to call this one of the worst days EVER (February 16th, 2003) in international relations, and a good day to be short stocks, long gold, oil & commodities. If you still have friends or relatives with bomb shelters left over from the 1960's (or Y2K), it may be time to restock the dried foods and oil the automatic weapons!"

See, firearms related! Found this description and interpretation of the astrological charts for the period:

"A strong war aspect - Mars (war) is conjunct Pluto (death on a large scale) with Saturn stationary (painful constriction) opposing within 3 degrees (concretizing the war/deathconjunction).*

*"conjunct" means in the exact same degree of space from our planetary perspective (although still FAR apart in reality) - so that if we could see them, Mars would appear to be in front of, or on top of, Pluto - so they appear "joined."

"opposing" means that Saturn is 180 degrees opposite the pairing of Mars and Pluto, setting up a seesaw or fulcrum-type effect. It suggests painful and extensively concrete impacts of the war/death conjunction.

Jupiter retrograde (good fortune, reversed) is opposite Neptune (large scale illusion or contagious delusion, esp spiritual - ie, "holy war") with the Sun conjuncting Uranus (unexpected lightning strike of change) and the Moon conjuncting Jupiter as the trigger.

I don't know exactly what will happen, but the tension or event will continue thru the 23rd, when Saturn turns direct, and the energies will fully activate. I know this sounds weird, but that's all I can say about it now. If we attack Iraq on the 16th, we may be in real danger here at home by the 23rd, if not before. "

Hey, I don't believe in this stuff myself, but the missus does and I know many others give a lot of credence to astrology. So take it seriously if you want to, I think it is a lot of bunk, but who knows? My personal opinion is that it is just entertainment.

Well, considering I've been "short stocks, long gold, oil & commodities" since mid- to late-1999, I'm rather underwhelmed by his perspicacity. Lord knows, you haven't needed astrology to look in a mirror and shave!

Or just use a smidgen of common sense as you read most any news source...Common sense ain't eggzackly rocket science or brain surgery. What it is, is, I accept what CNBC sez is fact. I just disagree with their conclusions from these facts; it just ain't no way "the best of all possible worlds".

Hehe...

Well, I read about it on the Kitco bulletin board (Kitco is THE site to go to for precious metals quotes) so you can probably guess I am long gold too.

To me gold is money, the fact that the price in US$ is up 40% in 1.5 years is nice too.
