Cheers people,

After looking at most all the threads of this site and TFL, I got bored playing on my computer. So, being the idiot I am, I entered my "handle" in the search catagory and punched "search".

Guess what? I'm on the internet!

Now after calming down a bit - I'm FAMOUS! - but I'm trackable! This rates along with "Google" giving you a map to my house from just a phone number. This ain't RIGHT!

This gives EVERY person - a trail to me on what are considered "questionable" sites. Yea, I'm a "gun" person - so what?

If I do a "shoot" that's totally legal - a DA, or ADA can access any comment I've ever made here or on any other "gun-site" and take it out of context and use it against me. Hell - ANY site I've ever been to!

It's PUBLIC domain! So - I'm screwed - and worst of all - so are YOU!

If I get into a p*ssing contest with, say Law Dog, or pax, or ANYBODY - it's usable against me - AND you, if you agree with me!

I've NEVER been scared of "Big Brother" - Hell, my prints have been on file since 1966, when I joined the Army. My last brush with the "Law" was in 1970 when I got a speeding ticket in Birmingham Al. Just back from Nam, and the LEO really DIDN'T want to give my that ticket - I just answered a question wrong. No big deal! Cost $20 - so what! - but, it tracks me. I'm "in" the system.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - Watch what you post - if it's questionable, then it MAY come back and bite you!

I know! I've posted on other sites the fact that I "carry" - legal or not. I "carry" in the helicopter I fly - no matter what the contract specifies. This is ALL available to someone who is willing to "search" - so I'm ****ed.

DON'T let this happen to you! REMEMBER - "big brother" has a way to find and **** YOU! The internet is a great thing - it also works both ways!

Gentle winds,
cr

After googling myself I learned that I work in a library in GA, have a pub somewhere overseas, an italian restaraunt in L.A., I'm a vegetarian in seattle, once was obease, wrote a comedy play (maybe more than that one?), have a GF named Susie, a sister named taylor, and a grandmother named Myra, I think...

Of course, I only went through about 40 pages.

Mine says I post on the Nikon technical forums, work for deloitt and touche
and play magic the card game. Unfortunately it does have a couple of THR threads I started that contain a lot of posts.

Google my handle and you come up with the greatest unsung hero of the original Star Wars trilogy :)

Google my handle and you'll find just about a billion mbs357's on a billion sites. I use it everywhere I go....I better be careful.

The take home message for me is to use a handle that is not too specific...Bacchus, anyone?

But seriously, how are they going to prove that it was actually your hand that typed the comments you're concerned about? (Unless you stupidly admit to it.)

(I, deanf, did not type this message.)

According to the #1 search find - I died 10 years ago :what: .

:D

(The other name I use elsewhere only turned up 30+ results on Google. I think that is the smallest return that I've ever seen from them - half of them were about/from me :what: )

So, if I get this straight, when I'm doing my day job as an ADA, and I look at a shooting, I should Google the name of the person and see if he's ever posted on a gun site, read his posts, and decide based on that if the shoot was good or not.

Hate to break it to you, but the facts of the shoot are what is going to make the difference, not what you may have posted on this site.

BTW, I'm not looking for a way to f*** you. I don't even know if you're cute. :D

Never assume.

You may use only the facts, but you're telling me that no other DA's office would ever try to dig up anything to use as possible motive to sway a jury if they want to "make an example" of a defensive shooter for some reason?

People are Googling other people's info as a matter of course for dating, employment, etc. these days, why wouldn't a legal team Google a defendant?

(It may or may not be admissible, but it may lead to some "useful" things.)

.

well i am not one to worry about this stuff=
my philosphy has always been this=
somoeone is taking your picture= many people freak out "dont take my photo"

well guess what . if the govt or whatever really wants to know about you,
they will take your photo form a hidden position with a telephoto lens.

same goes for everything. the CIA wont google your freaking username.

they will already know you had a gun ten years ago. the noly thing you can do to hurt yourself in that regard on the net is wander into a hate or porn or other
fed run sting site and do sdomething illegal.

sure, you might not want to post
"i got 50 ak's full auto" , but general attitudes, rrrrrg.

i guess you do have a point about the court case thing, this site may make a jury think a person on it was more prone to shoot, but other than that, not much to worry about.
MY CLAIM TO ALMOST FAME= ok my email addresses (i have 2) will show you a bunch of the stupid stuff im into, but here's what i am proud of=
MY Sister. ! she jsut graduted a seven year MD/PhD program, currently an intern for Harvard at Boston General.
plug this into google, i am so proud of her=
Dahlene Fusco.
5 pages, all her accomplishments!

Outrigger,
if you Google "Outrigger" you will learn a lot about canoes and not a thing about me.
"Outrigger" and "handgun" produced this as first hit: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=86806

"Outrigger" and "rkba" gave this as the second hit: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147930&page=4&pp=25

In 30 seconds I learned that in addition to being a nautical term, Outrigger is also the screen name for someone who keeps an S&W 66 by the bedside... That's one thing more than "not a thing about me."

But how about your real name? I googled mine just now, no other search terms, just my full name in "" "".
The search came up with 34 hits, six of which was about me. Five of those six are shooting-related.
How's that for paranoia. :D

PS: Outrigger, are the last two digits in your phone number by any chance 04?

Try juggler, it'll keep you busy for awhile :)
You CAN learn to juggle from one of those sites, though I learned from a book I borrowed from the library.

A Google search for my username brings up about 3,100 results. Nearly all seem to be from forum posts.

A suggestion to all you Google users, though. Don't use Google if you care about gun rights. They won't accept ads for gun-related websites. Of course, if you do a search for various gun brands, you'll see ads from Ebay and Amazon for "find Kimber pistols on Ebay," or " "The guide to Kimber" on Amazon.

Double standards? You decide.

It may be only me (as usual;)) but if someone were to try using the fact that I excercised my freedom of speech against me then it is they who are :cuss:ed since I stand up for my rights. Why wouldn't you cr?
