I am curious about SD ammo for the small G26.
I am looking at
1. Winchester Ranger Talon 147gr.
2.147gr HST
3. 124gr HST
4. GD 124gr +P

Reliablity would of course, have to be tested, but I would like help on which direction to go, on such a small pistol.

I use 147gr Remington Golden Saber.

For all intents and purposes, any major brand premium JHP is gonna do what it's supposed to do!!

After the infamous Miami shootout, which has been analyzed past the point of death, the ammo makers went on an engineering binge of major proportions, which as resulted in their top tier loads meeting all the specs put forth by the FBI.

I really do appreciate the replies and help.
From a full sized 9mm, I would pick the Federal HST 147gr load.
However with the G26, I am getting advice to go with a lighter gr/faster loading, to make up for the loss of velocity with the short barrel.

that's my understanding,as well. as for the hydra-shoks, though i also have a couple boxes stashed, i've read that it's an older, less ideal design that often has separation between the jacket and core on impact, sacrificing lethality, compared to other, newer designs..
IIRC, i have 124 gr. +P remington golden sabres in my G26. from everything i've read, the best out there in 9 mil right now are the gold-dots, the HSTs,the golden sabres and the ranger/talons.as already pointed out, stay away from the real heavy projectiles in the short G26 barrel, and any of these are great choices.

I guess I am an old fuddy duddy because my wife and I use Federal Classic 115 grain jacketed hollow points in our Glock 26 pistols on those rare occasions we feel the need for hollowpoints.
Generally we shoot Geco 124 full metal jacket ammo and whatever surplus military 124 fmj we can find on sale.

Thanks for the help.
The 147gr loads seem to be anemic, from a short barrel like the G26. From all the links I have read, the advice is to bump up to +P or +P+ when using a very short barrel. I am going to take a look at, the 127gr +P+ (RA9TA) for the G26.

.

I like the Corbon +P hollows. I look for high shoulders on hollowpoint
rounds and these fit the bill nicely.
