took my fairly new G3(CIA) to the range yesterday.

1st shot bang,2nd shot click.

happened with 4 different mags and different ammo.

upon further examination, looks like the bolt carrier is about 1/4''
from locking up the rollers.

note:all 1st shots were charged by slapping the charging handle down.

G3's are new to me,so I,was curious if there was a quick fix(new springs,lube,etc.)

thanks

Send it back if the chamber is clean and it still acts like that. It sounds like the headspace is very tight. CAI guns are not known for proper fitting. I would advise when buying a gun like the G3 or any of the HK types to take some feeler guages with you. Over at the FALFiles there was a checkout procedure for them and what to look for when selecting one. A search should turn it up. Good luck!

Century has a REALLY bad habit of grinding the back of the bolt in the G3/CETME guns to make them "in spec" again with respect to the bolt gap. You might have a ground bolt, and it's causing hate and discontent. Take her to a good gunsmith, and let them play with your CIA reweld.
Had a CETME - was POS.

Here's a link that might help you. www.cetmerifles.com Any mechanical problems like your G3 has will be answered there. First thing to do is field strip it, Gunscrubber the S**T out of it, paying particular attn. to the chamber flutes. Reassemble and check headspace with feeler gauges. (Specs are posted at the site, as is a .pdf manual for the G3.) If, out of spec, you will probably need to replace the rollers with a different size. Perro Del Diablo and the gang on the site will steer you in the right direction!:D
