How hard would it be to build a g3 clone from a new receiver and parts kit?
Here are some pics of a new receiver I found for $200 and parts kit for $399
The barrel/trunnion needs to be pressed into the receiver. That is not something you can easily do, unless you have the right machinery. The barrel issue is the biggest reason that many more ARs and FALs are home built, compared to G3s.
:banghead:
You do not need to press the barrel in the trunion unless the bolt gap in the barrel trunion in the kit is out of spec. There is no reason to remove it in the first place. The barrel can remain in the trunion and be welded directly into the new reciever.
I have built a couple and they are not that hard. Handful of welds and a bake on finish is about the jist of it.
