Forgive me if this has been answered before but I ran a search on G96 and it appeared there were about 20 pages of thread titles to search through to answer my question. Question: Hoppes 9 solvent and some other competitor solvent, Gunslick I think, is toxic to me. Just a little bit of odor upsets my stomach and is really obnoxious to me. So, recently I asked an experienced shooter and he referred me to some citrus based solvent he uses all the time and told me where to get it here in Iowa. I forget the name of it. Then today I went into my local sporting goods store and told the counter person my problem and he showed me a spray can of G96. He invited me to spray some on my hand and smell it. It was completely fine with my senses. He said they use it in their gun dept. all the time and sell loads of it to shooters. So, what are your disclaimers about this? Is it a good gun cleaner? One big question also....I will soon pick up a brand new nickel plated Smith from layaway. I know I am not supposed to use Hoppes on nickel. What about G96? Anything I should know about this is much appreciated. Thank you for your kind help.
