Galco Yaqui Slide Concealable?

I have a Sig P250 Compact and need a new OWB holster. I'm wondering if the Galco Yaqui Belt Slide or Paddle are concealable?

I had a Yaqui slide from another company and it didn't hide my S&W 439 very well. I just wonder if the Galco version is better. I saw Tom Selleck's character wearing one concealed with a full sized 1911 in the "Jesse Stone" films and, at least on camera, it looked comfortable and concealable. Not sure about real life.

Please chime in if you have used the Galco Yaqui Slide belt holster or paddle. Thanks.

I've never had trouble with concealment using my Yaqui slide and an appropriate garment covering it.

For most people, probably not. If you wear bigger shirts or layers you could probably get away with it. Years ago a carried a 1911 in a yaqui. Galco if I remember correctly. At some point I decided that there were better options for concealment.

I've tried Yaqui holsters, and a nylon, inside-the-belt Yaqui type: they do hold the gun close to the body and I found them secure "enough". I use them occasionally and appreciate the minimalist design.

The drawback, for me, is concealment: they just do nothing to obscure the profile of the gun, particularly an auto. Any tension on the cover garment will reveal not just the grip, but the barrel/slide as well. I found their greatest asset to be that, when empty (like dressing at the gym), they don't get noticed as a traditional holster would.

They're a straight can't design, so long concealment garments are needed to hide the barrel. There's also no rearward attachment points, so it doesn't pull the grip into your body.

If you can wear really baggy long over shirts they work ok, if not you probably won't be able to conceal one very well.

I agree with smalls assessment.

In general (and in my opinion), you'll find paddles don't conceal as well as holsters that attach with belt loops, straight drop holsters will not typically conceal as well as canted holsters, and holsters without a trailing loop will not generally pull the grip in tight to your body as will those with the trailing loop.

All that being said, if your pistol is small enough, or your cover garment is long/thick enough, you can get away with just about anything.

With a long parka, yes. Anything else, not so much.

If your goal is concealment, there are better choices.

I have tried the Yaqui slide in regular and paddle and did not feel that either concealed as well as many other styles out there. If you are looking for a minimalist holster a simple belt slide works better since it pulls the butt of the pistol in tighter to your body.

I use a yaqui frequently. It's at least as concealable as any other OWB manner of carrying, and maybe a bit more what with the holster being so small.

Make sure you get a quality one. I've seen a few made from inferior leather that did provide good retention.
