Hi all,

I am in need of some new game bags and was wondering if anyone has tried this. I have a whole bunch of old pillow cases that went out of style when i got married. Has anyone ever used them for game bags? They're clean and in good shape and it seems they would work great.

If I needed a tote sack I would use one of the woven produce bags in which you get potatos, onions, etc. I have a hunting vest with a game pouch in back that is lined with nylon (I believe) to keep blood from leaking thru and allows a little air circulation. These type of game pouches can cause game to go bad if carried all day and if you don't field dress it due to body heat/no real air circulation.

When I was a kid we used to empty our hunting vests when we went back to the car for lunch.

Never found any deer or elk bags that were worth much. They are either too small or too open of a weave, and let the flies at your meat. Pillow cases if large enough otta be fine. For many years we used old sheets with masking tape around the legs etc. to keep any insects away. We now have tubes bought from a roll from a yardage place. It is a tight knit stretchy material cut into lengths long enough to cover an entire elk but can be taped up short for deer also. Go to a large material store and ask the ladies if something like that is available, I buy cleaning patch material there too. We wash these and reused them next year, 10 years or so with nothing looking like it is gonna wear out anytime soon.
