went today to one of the houston stores. if you find any rifle, where the price ends in .97, such as 299.97, they will take off an additional 50 dollars! some of the guys will say, no price is allready reduced, but press them on it, and they will do it. I just picked up a savage mkIi wood stock, bolt action for 80., a nef m2 for 80, a marlin 917m2 for 119, and a marlin stainless laminate for 169!!! awesome. Also call them first , and ask to look for something, out in the racks or in the back, the laminate one I asked for was not in the racks.
 
I went to mine here in Lansing, MI and the sales guy said:
"Nope, $X.97 means it is on sale...this is the first I have heard of taking another $50 off of the sale price. Maybe the store manager at the other store decided to do that to move inventory...not here that I am aware of."
It was literally @ 8:58pm when I walked in the door, so I am sure he just wanted me to go away so he could go home. Anyways, which location Gander mountain did you get this deal at?
Any help, info would be GREATLY appreciated, as I found a few good deals I would buy if i can use this additional $50 off :D

Just talked to another salesguy and he said that this discount only applies to "clothing items"
what do I make of this? one says, he's never heard of it, the other says only to clothing items.... maybe I should try a 3rd salesguy and maybe he'll work with me on this, eh? :cuss: :evil:

I work at a Gander Mountain in IN. A price that ends in .97 means the item is on clearance. We did run a clearance sale to get some of the older stuff out, where we knocked an additional $50 off, but we had signs everywhere for it. It's a store by store thign, not a company wide sale.

We don't have that running right now at my store.
 
tell these guys, that the stores, in texas are honoring this sale. I just picked up a bunch of rifles, and they had a howa 25.06 for 299 and a savage 11fxp for the same price, in 204 ruger! Get on your stores up there and ask them to check it out,,yes the clearance rifles have been dropped in price allready, but they are now clearance for a reason.
 
Ranger- you rock. I asked the guy and he gave me the $50 off a pistol. It was for the SE Browing Buckmark Challenger. Sweet!
 
Ranger; you and gander saved my day

About a week or so ago I go to gander to look for a Kadet Kit. They dont have any but the nice man at the counter orders one for me. Tells me it'll be 259 and he will call me when it gets there. Should be by on monday he says. I give them a call today and its my lucky day its in. I get there and the guy gives me the paper work for a FFL transfer. Im thinking this is a mistake but Ill correct them in a minute. First I want to take a look at my precious new Kadet Kit. Turns out its not a "Kit", its a "Kadet Pistol" and its $489.

Im a huge fan of CZ pistols and was really set on the Kadet Kit for my 75BD....but I just couldnt figure paying 230 more for the entire Kadet. For a little more than that I could get the Kit which was what I wanted. My fiance' later told me that she had never seen me "quite so deflated so quickly", just to give you an idea of how I felt.

Well I remembered your advice about the sale and I look around and I was just wandering around the store untill I spot a nice Browning Buckmark Challenger SE with the price of 349.97. I have always dismissed the Buckmarks because I could never find a long barreled one with a pencil barrel, and here we are with one and a Special Edition to boot. I said "if you give me the 97 cent discount on that and Ill buy it now!" The sales man gave me the affirmative and rung me up. I know there is a reason why Ive bought seven of the last nine of my guns at Gander. Damn good service and some of the best prices in Houston.
 
went back this morning to get a marlin 917m2 with a coupon I had so It was 109.97. got it on layaway anyways.
 
i know, it's awesome to get the unexpected deal on the unexpected firearm...
so I go back , looking for some more things. Now what I really want is a pencil bbl rifle in 17m2, but the only ones you see are the rugers, and they are big money. So I'm looking around , and spot a Savage , synth stock, pencil bbl , in m2!!! I'm panting... i ask the clerk, since i bought a bunch of rifles the prev. night here, and did not see this one, would he do me the favor of giving me the 50 dollar discount on this one as well, even though it was not in the correct price range, but I begged, saying how much i had spent the night before, whine, cry, etc. he says o.k. So cool, now I pick up a pencil bbl m2 savage for 120 dollars!?! Are you kidding me??? So we open up the box, and the mag is gone, someone had misplaced it, so we go out to the shelf with all the diff mags, and the only one that is there is the way bigger , way more expensive, 10 round stainless, as opposed to the black, five rounder that normally comes with it. And he says, "hey , it's gotta come with one, I'll give you this one!" You are kiddin me!!
I will tell you this, there is no other store , that i know of, that is willing to give up merchandise, and great deals, like the peeps at gander mountain. And I have bought guns from indv dealers, gunshops, gunshows, and other big box stores.
