Gander Mountain experiances and opinions?

Mixed experiences. Some deals they had were smokin...others would burn you. They were a little short handed on labor the few times I actually bought something. It's was annoying as hell when the guy would break away from me to answer the phone, or wait on another customer, or whatever. What should have taken ten minutes to complete took thirty. Overall, I'd give them a 7 out of 10.

GM Non-Service

Went to a GM in N.Wis a few months ago and ran across a row of S&W mod 66's w/ 2.5" police guns on the bottom row. Found one with a few holster marks but mech tight as the proverbial drum for $275. Informed clerk I would like to buy and have him ship to my local dealer in Va. BLANK LOOK TIME. Then had to listen to the "federal law prohibits out of state sales of handguns speech", informed said clerk , while this is true, you can ship next day air to a FFL dealer anywhere, and I would have my dealer send a signed copy of FFL for the paperwork and I would pay for the gun and shipping in advance. ANOTHER BLANK LOOK, and then manager had to be located and I repeated story. He stated that this type of transaction would have to be done at the home office as he didn't have a program to enter into the computer. I said ok, as it would take several days to get the FFL to the office, I told him to put the gun on the credit card, and to inform me of the additional shipping and I would authorize the difference. A week later GM manager called and stated the folowing GUNPRICE +$60 SHIPPING +$45 "SERVICE FEE FOR PAPERWORK + STATE TAX. Politely wished said manager good luck on selling the used gun and gave fax number to send credit memo on card too. Went to S&W forum, found similar deal in KS and had gun inside of a week, total price $303.00. H*II with GM and their mimimum wage staff.
