Little help please...

I cannot find my notebook/shooting log and need help remembering the appropriate point of aim/impact for a 200 yd zero with the M1 rifle - when shooting on a 50 yd range. :banghead:

Thanks Gang.

Fifty yards is very close for zeroing a rifle at range. When zeroing a scope I start close, like 50 yards, and there have been many times when I am in the center of silver dollar sized bull at 50 yards, only to be outside the black at 100 yards.

For a 200 yard zero I recommend being 1" to 2" high at 100 yards. Given that a Garand is a 4 MOA thing, you will have to fire a group and move the center of the group.

200 yd zero should be 2" high at 50 yds. At 100 yards you'll be about 2.5" high which is close to perfect for resting black area of a NRA High Power target on your front post.

At 275yds, which is the classic battle zero, you'll be 5.5" low and at 300yds you'll be 8" low.

I think there is a gunclub that shoots High Power over in Fairfax. There will doubtless be a number of old Garand shooters there, that would love to talk about Garands.
