The Hot Gates

Excellent Book!!

My favorite part is when King Leonidas is informed by his spies that King Xerxes' Army has so many archers that their arrows will block out the sun. He simply replies that, then they will have their battle in the shade!!!

I believe that is a historical quote too.

The arrows and the shade bit.

The version I heard was that it was not Leonidas but one of his men who made the comment about fighting in the shade.

The part I liked was when Xerxe's turn coat spy told him that IF he could defeat the 300 Spartans he would have no trouble with the rest of Greece. This with Xerxes having between 100,000 and 300,000 troops with him.
