There was a comic titled G.I. Joe published by Ziff Davis Comics from 1950-1957.

The first "doll" marketed to boys, G.I. Joe made its first appearance on toy shelves as a 12 inch fully possible figure manufactured by Hasbro in 1964.

Hey, i actually have both versions of those canteens pictured and the foldable shovel too bad i dont have any of those guns.

A year ago i bought a GI joe action set just for the minuatture m-60 that it came with.

its weird. in some toy stores they have soldier sets with fake weapons that are brightly colored. They have like spear-guns, or big fake looking future weapons. I wonder if its a ploy or if Im paranoid. Some new GI-JOEs have awesome weapons though. Ah, to be young.
