Gentlemen,
This post is for many of the new guys. The first post is Gen. Patton's SECOND written post on what he thinks of the M1 Garand Rifle. The second pic is a cutout of how M1 Garands were canned. I hope you enjoy.

A word to the WISE for CONGRESS:
"You cannot invade America. There is a rifle behind every blade of grass." Admiral Yamamoto

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount of “up to and including my life.”

Thanks again for taking the time and effort to read this data. I hope you have learned a little of the history of the M1 Garand.

Wow... "the greatest weapon ever made"!

Perhaps even more impressive than his other well-known quote, "the greatest battle implement ever devised."

Thanks for the post

Packed for storage, not airdrop. They stored M1 Carbines and other rifles in a very similar way.

Anything special about how they were stored in the drums? Cosmoline? Dessicants? Vacuum sealing?

I wonder how long they would last that way.

There was an article in American Rifleman about two months ago about the canning process. Basically cosmolened, make sure the air's dry and then sealed.
