I applied for my "Georgia Firearm License", is that the same thing as a conceal license?

Welcome to the safe side.
Don't forget though, the church bill didn't pass this year so they're still off limits unless you have written permission.

Permission to carry in church? I've never heard of this. I know the statute forbids carrying into church. I did not know you could get written permission. Can you cite something?

First, there was no "church bill" this year, unless you count HB915 which was the "everything bill" that didn't make it out of committee. Georgia still has more places off limits than any other state.

Second, there is NO exception to 16-11-127 for "written permission." It is illegal for mere citizens to have a gun at "churches or church functions" (or in the parking lot) under all circumstances.

Sorry but there is no "permission" to carry in church. This is one of the "public gathering" areas that is still enforced by state statute.
