Another item I inherited. My brother got the 1916 gun and holster, I got the magazine. How rare are these? Is there any value?

If all original, very rare, very expensive. Gunbroker has some, 1200 on up.
I went there and checked the three they have out. They look a lot rougher than mine. I also have the body cover and the adapter. How often do they turn over on that site?

I don't know about there, but head over to Simpson Ltd and see what they have. Hey do sell pretty well over there.

They had one they just sold for $1495 without the adapter or body cover.
That is all they had.

I can't offer much more info. Might check out Forgotten Weapons or C&Rsenal for additional info on Youtube.

I love Luger P08's just waiting when I can afford to get one of my own.

Thanks for the post and pictures. Original Trommel (drum) magazine covers are extremely rare. In fact, there are serious collectors who doubt the existance of real ones from the period. People have been turning out fakes of these for over fifty years now. However, there are convincing pictures of some originals, but even the pictures are very rare. Do you have the loader too? The loaders are also rather scarce and have sold in the $900 - $1800 range, depending on condition, etc. Now you mention an "adaptor". Do you mean the cover that slips over the top of the magazine or the metal device that would allow you to use it with a MP18? The cover has sold for anywhere between $200 and $600 but the adaptor is generally about twice that, but you have to find somebody with an MP18 or a real serious collector that needs one, which is a rather limited market. Best of luck and thanks again.
