Unfortunately, the grave risk of lead contamination is far too serious for me to let them help out any more. It was hard, but they've been banned from the reloading area. And they aren't allowed to play on our indoor range any more under ANY circumstances.
Adults can handle a pretty serious dose of lead in our systems (it is BAD for you, but the effects are not as quickly pronounced) but kids CAN'T. Even a little exposure is way too much. And the younger they are the worse the risks.

Yup, I looked it up shortly after she was born and found the same thing. Kind of a bummer.
I really don't know how much of a risk there is but it's just not worth it. Sounds like lead contamination at a young age retards brain development and can cause serious behavioral problems. They'll have plenty of opportunity to pull the press handle when they are adults. This was just once for a fun picture mostly.
