If all goes according to plan this weekend I'm heading to my fav place to get a glock 23. I'm planing on getting an extra mag or two and some ammo, then heading home, doing a strip, check, & clean then heading to the range and breaking her in. After that what should I do next?

Can I get a .357 sig barrel and shoot .357 sig out of it?

I'm new to handuneg and planing on using it for my CCW classes, whats a good holster for it?

shoot it? :D

Yes you can get a .357 SIG barrel for it. I believe they use similar magazines as the .40, but someone's gonna have to double check that.

Get some good quality Kydex for your Glock. Either Comptac, Sidearmor, Kytac and bladetech are all good Kydex companies.

Check out glock talk on this or check with a certified Glock Armorer BEFORE YOU DO IT! It's my understanding only those G23's which have certain added structural support can be used to shoot the .357 Sig. Judging from the photos on GT, my second gen G23 does not have the extra steel supports. IIRC the third gens do.

Yeah, afaik it's a simple procedure to shoot 357sig out of your 40 s&w. I really like the 357 sig...you should be in for a lot of fun!

If it's a brand new 23,then all you need is a barrel. If it's a first generation 23,you'll destroy the frame. There is an excellent tutorial on GlockTalk that shows the differences in the frame reinforcements...

Just my opinion but,

Since it's not a ,"sub compact", just a ,"compact", forget about .357 SIG and shoot it as it is. The G-23 has a long enough barrel to do more than enough damage with the right load. Second, shoot the crap out of it to get used to the trigger. Third, enjoy the hell out of one of the most reliable AND concealable pistols on the planet:) :D ...

IMHO, the only thing .357 SIG has over .40 ammo in a G-23 sized firearm, is it cost more:scrutiny: !!!!

Still 2 Many Choices!?

Holster suggestion (Milt Sparks VM-11)

Save yourself a lot of time and money and buy a Milt Sparks Versa Max II. I have a lot of other holsters setting in a drawer.

For a top quality gun belt at a real good price $35.00 to $55.00, check out Nelson Leather company in Scio, Oregon. http://www.nelsonleather.com/ best belt for the price I have found anywere.

Good

Chuck
