Hey yall here is the situation my dad has a glock 23 great gun but for Xmas I want to get him a conversion barrel to 357 sig so what brands do yall recomend

thanks horsemen61

357 Sig normally doesn't benefit from traditional rifling.
My first choice would be a factory bbl from Glock.
You might be able to pick one up used if you keep an eye on the Glock forums.
I've had good luck with KKM and Lone Wolf in other calibers.

Both my Smith&Wesson M&P40c and Springfield XDm 4.5 have Storm Lake 357Sig barrels and I'm happy with both. Drop in, no surprises.

Put some Underwood 125gr Gold Dots in there and have yourself some 600+ ft/lbs goodness.

The factory barrel is the best you'll find. It has excellent chamber support, a nice throat, rust resistant finish, is very accurate and costs less than most of the aftermarket barrels. .357 Sig is one caliber of Glock you'd be a fool to buy other than stock.
If it were for a G35 I'd say KKM, Storm Lake, or Lone Wolf as there isn't a factory one that length. Too bad really :(

well medic I am sure I could buy a whole slide which would be ideal sadly just can't afford it.

It would be hard, as Glock won't sell you a new slide; they will replace (under warranty, or an outright sale) a damaged one if you return the damaged one). There are some after-market slides and frames, but that is REALLY expensive.

I don't think there's really any advantage to a dedicated slide rather than just a .357 SIG barrel

I have a KKM .357 SIG barrel for a Glock 23 that works just fine. POI is even the same as POA with the .40 S&W barrel, something which surprised me. I expected the .357 SIG round to hit lower due to the lower weight and higher velocity. Perhaps the fact that the sights are set for a 155-grain .40 load is the reason.

Well Horse, I wasn't asking to be rude...I've been considering buying a G32 slide to put on my 23 and thought I'd ask.
As to why I don't want to just drop a 357 barrel in, the 23 has different size sights, and you can get a change in POI, depending on the range.

My .357 Sigs (33, 32, and 31) use aftermarket barrels so they have better feed ramps that enclose the cartridge case better so no Kabooms.

Nice thing is, if any ammo shortage happens again I can go either way as for ammo.

That was my concern when I recently bought a Glock factory .357 Sig barrel for my G23. Searching various forums, the consensus seemed to be that it was not an issue. I found the same to be true, little to no change in POI.

Glockmeister sometimes has complete slides for sale, but it will run you about $350.

Since you would need a barrel whether or not you buy another slide, you're not risking anything by trying just a barrel change first.

Deaf,
How ya been?
What are you shooting in your 357?
I'm fine Flfiremedic.

I use CCI Gold Dot 125s in all three guns. Not as powerful as Doubletaps but I can shoot those guns one handed fast and still get decent groups (and that matters to me more than the power of the round.)

All three Glocks are accurate and the idea of a 125gr at 1500 from my Glock 31 does please me!

In the 33 it's more like 1300 fps, which is higher than my Glock 26 gets with Winchester +p+ 127s (they chrono out at 1240.)

They say Doubletaps will chrono out of the 33 at 1400 (yes true .357 Magnum out of a sub-compact.)

If you're a first responder buying a new blue label is going to be cheaper and easier than dealing with finding a slide. At regular price a complete gun is probably cheaper.
