Getting comfortable with carrying

Land of the Free and Home of the Brave

Please go to "General Gun Discussions" and at the top is the topic "You are not a Guilty Criminal."

The founders of this nation spilled their blood; in part, so that you have the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

The armed forces of this nation, throughout our history, have sacrificed to keep those same Rights.

My family members, from the American Revolution, WWI, WWII, and the Vietnam War have all served with those Rights in mind.

Breathe in the air of this land. We are a free people, and will not relinquish those freedoms to anyone. Anyone!

Practice and enjoy yours.

I lived in California for 5 months,I had a short K-bar,but still didn't feel right without my old traveling partner Smitty (S&WM12-2)

I moved away from my girl friend/future wife, because she couldn't deal with the fact that the culture shock was too much of an overload to my KY mindset.

I felt like an American again when I got home and was able to strap my six shooter back on.

From then on I've stuck to the old guideline of "Where Smitty can't go,I don't want to be"

Did anybody else feel this way when they first started packing?

I didn't feel irresponsible. I did feel like I was wearing a big neon sign on my hip that read 'GUN' but enough time carrying and I got over it. Now I sometimes don't think about it, especially if I'm carrying a subcompact like the Kahr PM9 or the one I currently carry most often, a Beretta Bobcat. It just takes time to adjust, IMO.

I am getting more and more comfortable with always having a firearm on me. I guess I can only link my feelings of “irresponsibility” to my liberal upbringing. Raised liberal, educated at a liberal university, I even have a liberal arts degree. Thanks to a few talk radio hosts my eyes were opened some years back and I was able to see the other side. Being open minded and educated turned me in a direction that would make my family, and many of my professors cringe. I enjoy my new right to carry and I really appreciate all the support I got on this forum.

Thanks
