Now that I'm back in the reloading game and set up, I've started some massive case prep. I have about 1,400 pieces of .223 brass to trim, about 500 .308, and a couple hundred .30-06. I got the Wilson trimmer I own set up but, man, I'm not so sure about 2,000 pieces of brass in it.

I know it's pricey, but I just sold a generator that can cover the expense. Any reason not to?

Made my hands cramp reading giraud and 1400 pieces of brass. Break it up into a few sessions and you will be ok. If I am doing that many the Dillon is what I use, 1400 sized/deprimed and trimmed in an hour.

Does the Dillon chamfer the case too? I've heard the Dillon doesn't work that well for sizing, great for trimming though. I've got the Giraud, no experience with the Dillon trimmer.

I know you'd never regret a purchase like that, but for $69.95 a WFT (world's finest trimmer) available from numerous suppliers is very fast also. I have easily trimmed 500+ pieces of brass in a few minutes. You generally don't need to de-burr afterwards, as the cut is very clean. You will need to chamfer however - I do that on a drill press and it's very fast.

FWIW, I have been using the Sinclair power adapter for the L.E. Wilson trimmer for many years and am extremely happy with it.

I have done thousands of .30 Carbine, 7.62x51, and .30-06 at a time with it, and it speeds up the process tremendously as well as makes life a lot easier on the hands. Would love a Giraud, but at $450, I don't think so.

+1 on the Giraud. I really like mine, wish I had bought it sooner.

It trims and chamfers all in one go. I use a leather work glove to reduce wear and tear on my fingers when running a lot of cases thru. Wearing the glove also reduces transmitted vibration.

Once it's setup, the Giraud trimmer is as simple to use as an electric pencil sharpener and just as quick.

I just put one on order a few weeks back. I'm not aware of any place that stocks them, so if you order them directly from Giraud or from a place (Creedmoor) I believe the current wait time is 10-12 weeks. If you're thinking about it, probably best to get your order in due to the wait time...

Yeah it was 12 weeks when I ordered mine last year. It truly is worth every penny though, and if you are already considering it, just go for it. Just like a pencil sharpener, only better!
