My father hunts quail with his 1100 (not sure what year), and I thought I might get him a fiber optic sight to try for Christmas. If it's like 870's, I'm guessing there may be different versions that fit various years and models. Can anybody suggest a good fiber optic sight (Hi Viz, Tru Glo, etc) that is likely to fit an 1100 and work well for the application of quail hunting?

Thanks very much.

Tru-Glo DOES have very good customer service. However I needed it TWICE trying to get replacements for the fiber optic light pipe that took off while shooting long strings! Apparently if the barrel gets smoking hot after several hundred quick ones (don't ask!) the recoil can dislodge the pipe out of the crimp tube. then you have a FRONT ghost ring (which still works kinda) However as the tech rep told me the second time, these sight were not designed for such "abuse" I never saw an old Ithaca Raybar take off, for some odd reason.
The Brazos sight,SDM, and a couple other pistol sights are not going anywhere, but would take a real gunsmith to instal one.
All that said , it might be meaning less to a hunter or somebody who shoots a box or two pretty quick.

My 1100 shoots flat flat flat.

What's a fiberoptic good for if you have to cover the bird?

AB, flatflatflat can be fixed easily. A little shim between the stock and receiver at the bottom will add some height so birds can be floated. Raising 1/16" at face will add an inch at 16 yards or so.

Or, a bit of padding on the comb will do.
