Unless you are active military and your Home of Record is still in Arkansas then just take it home on leave and give it to her.

Military Home of Record has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with state of residency for the purposes of firearms transactions!

My home of record is Wyoming. I have had a Wyoming Driver's License since 1981 and currently have a Wyoming driver's license. It would be completely illegal, by Federal law, for me to receive any firearm in Wyoming other than a rifle or shotgun from an FFL or to transfer a firearm to a Wyoming resident other than an FFL because I do not meet ANY Federal requirements to establish residency in Wyoming.

First off, I want to just say NavyLT is an outstanding member, and I thank you for your input in this forum!

Secondly, Ants is right on, get things in order... restraining order, training, etc.

having a gun is just a fraction of real preparedness...

don't drop the ball just to pin an easy "S" on your chest, go ffl, get involved. It will come back on you if there's a situation. Cover your behinds! Murphy is always out there.

It's already taken care of. i just don't have the money to really get her something nice (yey for probably not getting paid next week!) but Dad got her a shotgun.

That's good news. Let's call the question answered then.

I'd encourage you to do everything you can to implement the suggestions given by the others here. As we all know, having a gun is a very small part of the self-defense picture.

Good luck to her and you.
