They dont have the new video clip online at the moment but the small,brief clip was interesting on the 11 o clock news last night and mildly informative.I know the tiny 'redhead' named Cynthia and this actually turned out to be a decent 'vid and transcript' on women and CCW's in the Vegas valley.

So what do you all think?Anything like this happening in your neck of the woods?

Just curious...
 
Sorry have to go through ABC's anti gun bias on this piece:

"84-year old Ruth Loupe is among thousands of women in Southern Nevada who are licensed gun owners."

WRONG, you don't need a license to own a gun. Conceal carry is a different story.

"After all, guns can kill."

WRONG again. People use bullets shot from guns to kill people.

And throw in some anti-gun emotions in this piece that blame the tool rather than the criminal scumbags who did it.

Other than that I am glad that women are packing. I like strong, independent women who think for themselves and are not afraid to defend themselves.

I certainly hope the gun shop owner's words and intent have been mauled beyond recognition by the article's author (eminently likely) and that she's only talking about longstanding domestic abuse issues. Nonetheless, it seems that the shop owner in the article is putting stalked/threatened women at risk, if getting a restraining order (words on paper that supposedly protect people) and taking a self-defense class are mandatory before buying a firearm at her store.

By the way Sans did you think that the owner could be liable for his statements if he gives advice contrary to law?

But the tidbit I found most interesting is the part about 17 million women gun owners.

We hear all the time about 80 million gun owners in the USA. So if there are 17 million women gun owners that's a pretty impressive percentage for a "20 something white male" demographic.

Not really,Ive met Sondra a few times and yes she is a 'bit over careful' in some regards but all in all a great person!The vid was somewhat different than the transcript...still from a 'near-almost-antigun news station' it didnt turn out to badly.

In Nevada,for you to qualify for your CCW,you must have a gun 'in your name' by state approved 'blue card' as the one your using FOR qualification.Ive never met Ruth Loupe but for an 84 year old lady carrying',I think shows a 'remarkable quality'.As for your comment,I think that may be what Ruth meant.In the vid they actually got the reporter to shoot at the range herself...so something good must come from all this (hopefully).

Now, which Nevada law prohibits someone who is being stalked and/or threatened from buying a firearm without a restraining order or self-defense course?

Aye, I don't doubt it. Journalists and video editors (not to mention prosecutors) are notorious for putting up to a 180-degree spin on anything that comes out of your mouth.
