Today was one of those days were I was glad I invested in a stainless revolver.
I went to the hunting lease to clear brush for a new blind. As always, I strapped on my 4" Colt King Cobra .357 mag. I load it with 3 snake shot rounds and 3 Hornady XTPs in alternating chambers whenever I'm working at the lease. I haven't seen a rattler out there yet, but I know they are there. There are plenty of armadillos, foxes, coyotes, and other assorted varmints as well. I've also seen cougar tracks. In addition to the Colt, a rifle is never far from hand either.
Anyway, it was overcast and a little misty when I started working. After about an hour, the rain came. Since this was my only opportunity to work at the lease this month, I kept working despite the rain.
When I got home a few hours later, I removed the Colt from the holster and literally poured water out of the gun. Needless to say, the gun was disassembled, dried, and lubed. There was no sign of rust anywhere even though it had been in a wet leather holster for several hours. I love my Colts!
Another thing I was glad for was the application of sealant to my ammo. I reload my own and always apply sealant to my hunting ammo. You just never know what hand nature will deal you.
Some guys don't care of their guns get rusty in the field, but I do. I'm picky like that. That's why I'm glad I bought the stainless King Cobra. I also have a blued 4" King Cobra, but it stayed home in the safe.
